Surgeon Spotlight – Michael R. Pace, DDS, MD

Michael R. Pace, DDS, MD, is a board certified surgeon with Northern Texas Facial & Oral Surgery, a USOSM partner practice with four locations in the DFW Metroplex – Flower Mound, Grapevine, Irving and Keller. Like many oral surgeons, Dr. Pace was drawn to healthcare from an early age.

“I’ve been interested in healthcare ever since high school and always wanted to become a doctor,” Dr. Pace recalls. “My grandfather was a dentist, so becoming an oral surgeon seemed like a natural fit for me. It’s the best of both worlds – dentistry and medicine.”

Dr. Pace practices a full scope of oral and maxillofacial procedures, with particular interest in orthognathic surgery and facial trauma. “I love relieving someone’s pain and seeing their transformation after their treatment. Maybe it’s someone who was self-conscious about their smile before, who can now smile with confidence. It’s very rewarding,” Dr. Pace adds.

A member of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, Dr. Pace has presented on OMS topics at professional conferences and has contributed to multiple research publications, including a textbook chapter on facial trauma management.

Dr. Pace earned his bachelor’s degree from Brigham Young University, graduating with honors. He earned his dental degree from the UCLA School of Dentistry, where he was elected vice president of his class, and his medical degree from Loma Linda University School of Medicine. Dr. Pace completed his oral and maxillofacial surgery residency at Loma Linda University Medical Center, where he received extensive training in dental and implant surgery, anesthesia, facial trauma management, orthognathic surgery, head and neck pathology and maxillofacial reconstruction.

Currently a partner, Dr. Pace joined USOSM as an associate, a distinction that gives him a somewhat unique view. “Some young surgeons may be concerned that USOSM may have a corporate feel or control how you practice. In my experience, it has made the transition from resident, to associate, to partner much easier than it would have been in other practice settings. I have been able to treat patients the way that I feel is best and have been supported by USOSM in the process. It’s a really good partnership,” Dr. Pace explains.
